The work on the album started at the point two artists have decided
to join efforts in building up their sounds with reference to the musical
heritage of Azerbaijan and Caucasus. It’s curious to note how far
through their journey have taken them! Certainly, their approach could
be defined as anything but ‘world music’ - the borrowed samples are
undergoing an archaeological excavation, a laboratory investigation,
an assemblage, a boundless drift of mind, and put into the situation
of a greenhouse, a recycling factory and of a playground at the same
time. Nine tracks of Naschkatze’s LP with an eponymous title don’t
create any homogenous stylistic pattern - it is up to the listener to
judge is this creative output eclectic? Erudite? Elusive? Eradicating?
Or all of those? One could call this output IDM (Intelligent Dance
Music) or maybe rather ICS (Irrational Contemplative Soundstream)...

The LP’s soundscapes lay on various source materials such as vinyl
archive sampling, fancy and funny recordings discovered on YouTube,
scrupulous field sessions, sounds produced by analog synthesizers,
all abundantly layered over and over. Switching from being enticed
away by a stream of body movement to rationally deciphering the
sound signs and signals and back - that is what Naschkatze is about!
